Sandra Konar
Faculty
Advisor
Mrs. Konar (Sandy) has been working at the SDSU School of Music and Dance for many years. She works in the main music office, helping all music and dance majors and minors as their academic advisor.
She is also the Secretary to the Director of the School, and manages all faculty and staff issues.
Throughout the years, Sandy has made an enormous impact on the lives of ALL of our SAI Roses, helping us with class requirements, on campus status questions, and has been our primary contact as a music department student group.
Sandy is our only Patroness. She was initiated during the Spring of 2007, and has been a loved member of our chapter ever since. She has helped us with meetings and ceremonies, and always attends our big events, such as our 70th Anniversary Celebration last Spring!

Matthew Lane
Program Advisor
Mr. Lane is a very dedicated and helpful advisor for our chapter. After being in initiated in the Spring of 2008, he has attended most of our chapter meetings and events and always has helpful advice when we plan our events.
Mr. Lane is a Music Performance major at SDSU who performs in the SDSU Marching Aztecs, Wind Symphony, A Band (the #1 Jazz band at SDSU), and many other ensembles.
In the future, Mr. Lane hopes to become a world famous bass trombone player. He has worked at many area schools teaching low brass students, and also has a following of private lessons students across San Diego County.
Mr. Lane is the only Iota Delta Advisor who attends chapter meetings on a regular basis. Along with Alumnae support, he has made a giant impact on our sisterhood by giving of his time and support. Mr. Lane consistently lends his musical talents to our chapter's voice.
Mr. Lane hopes to graduate from the SDSU Music Department with Bachelors Degree in Music Performance in the Spring of 2011. He may also be moving into the world of music education before he's done!

Chris Allen
Membership Advisor
Mr. Allen was initiated as a Friend of the Arts in the Fall of 2008.
He earned his BME, from Morehead State University, Morehead, KY.
Originally from Portsmouth, Ohio, Chris has been in the San Diego area since 1982. He has served as pianist, conductor, arranger, and vocal coach/accompanist at a number of organizations in the region.
For San Diego Opera he has served as staging and ballet pianist as well as music director/accompanist for the San Diego Opera Ensemble. For San Diego Comic Opera (now Lyric Opera San Diego) he has conducted productions of Rose Marie, The Desert Song, The Gypsy Baron, La Perichole, and Mikado. Mr. Allen has also served as audition pianist for Long Beach Opera.
Mr. Allen is involved in many facets of choral music in San Diego. For San Diego Men’s Chorus, he held dual positions as Artistic Director and Principal Accompanist between 1989 and 2005. Two major accomplishments for the Men’s Chorus during this period was a performance during the open house Christmas season for the White House during a major portion of Superbowl XXXII pre-game show. For San Diego Women’s Chorus, Chris serves as Artistic Director, a position he has held since 1996. He has led both choruses at quadrennial GALA Choral Festivals in Denver, Tampa, San Jose, and Miami.
Allen was Interim Music Director for San Diego Master Chorale, under the Artistic Direction of Martin Wright, during the 2006-07 Season and he prepared the ensemble for concerts of Chichester Psalms, Messiah, Elijah, various SDMC sponsored events, as well as two Summer Pops choral performances with the San Diego Symphony. He also prepared the choral group for Broadway Rocks! with the San Diego Symphony featuring New York-based Broadway singers. This past year, he has been conducting the Youth Choir from the San Diego Children’s Choir.
At San Diego State University, Mr. Allen currently conducts the large Concert Choir including its feature performances at San Diego Symphony pops concerts. He has served as Staff Accompanist for the Choral and Opera Programs and he provides accompaniment, as well as vocal coaching, for voice studios and classes at the university. Mr. Allen is organist at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in San Diego.

Brent Dutton

Mr. Dutton earned his MM from Oberlin College, Conservatory of Music, and his BM from Oberlin College, Conservatory of Music
Brent Dutton is a musician of diverse interests and pursuits. He has an amalgam of careers as composer, performer, teacher and arranger. His musical studies began at age nine in his native Canada. He began composing at age ten and attended the Royal Conservatory of Music while still in highschool.
Prof. Dutton has an extensive list of publications and performances in North America and abroad. He has published over 100 works for a wide array of instruments and ensembles from solo viola to full symphony orchestra. His music has been recorded by Deutsche Grammaphon, The Canadian Broadcasting Corp., Crystal Records, Eroica, LMP, Kanda Records, Good Vibrations Records. PBS and others.
He has received over 30 awards for his work including two Yaddo Fellowships, five Canada Council Arts Bursaries, The Phi Kappa Lambda Excellence Award (Oberlin) and the Royal Conservatory Of Music Silver Medal for Excellence. He has four times (1987,1989, 1993, 2002) been named Outstanding Professor of the Year for Music at San Diego State University and in 1985 was named Distinguished Professor of the Year for his College. He was the Phi Beta Kappa Lecturer for SDSU in the Spring of 1993, the same year that he was elected to the Canadian Music Center as Associate Composer.
As a performer, he has played as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician on the tuba throughout the world. He has been a member of the Cleveland Orchestra, L’Orchestre Symphonique du Quebec, Grand Ballet Canadien, Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, and the San Diego Symphony, The San Diego Brass Consort and Westwind Brass as well as many other professional ensembles. He was the first tubist to ever do a recital tour of Canada.
Mr. Dutton has been on the music faculties of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the California Institute of the Arts and Central Michigan University. He has been the brass coach for the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra from 1986-92 in Poland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, The Soviet Union, Uruguay, Argentina, Canada and Denmark.
